Yesterday we had
REMEMBRANCE DAY
there was a documentary on tv
about
THE LINE OUTSIDE
THE MUSEUM
OF ANNE FRANK .
there is always a very long line
and people are standing and waiting
outside for HOURS .
Summer or Winter
Sunshine or rain ( with umbrella's )
and
they come from
ALL OVER THE WORLD
of course I know the book
here in Holland
because she lived in AMSTERDAM
I had NO IDEA
the book and the story
are so famous all over the world
the documentary
was about the people in the line
THEIR STORIES
about WHY they were there/here
in this line
waiting to visit the museum
very very impressing
*
and today
we celebrate
liberation day
the sun is shining
we are free
I wish Anne is too
*
Yes she is. Anne will always be free as long there's a child being given, picking, reading her book - The Anne Frank's Diary - and learn that from very early age, in your own power, words, example you too can make a difference.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI read mine for the first time when I was 12 and gave it to my children to read around the same age. I me it changed as I can tell you that by asking more about her it was, somehow, a loss of inocence. My children weren't so lucky as due to the development and access of information they pretty much know about what happened, the consequences etc. But they still appreciate reading and discussing it and sharing.
So I'm sure one day we travel there we'll join the line. We will just HAVE TO.
Wishing you a lovely day and week ahead,
Teresa
My dear friend, Holland holds a very special place in my heart as I learned in school about how Anne Frank was so lovingly cared for my Dutch people....then the story of Corrie Tenboom, another wonderful soul who helped many people during this time of Europe's history. LOVE TO YOU dear and wonderful Dutch friend!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenOne of the most emotional experiences for me was walking into the attic room where Anne Frank wrote her diary. It was worth the wait in line to be there and remember what she went through.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThe girls I teach hold Anne Frank in very high regard. They read her diary within their English lessons, and we have taken some to the museum during a visit to Amsterdam. I was moved to tears, too.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenFrancis,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWhen the girls traveled to Europe, they visited Anne Frank's house. It was such an experience for them, and they said afterwards that it is something that everyone should see.
Happy Mother's Day. I hope you have a peaceful day doing all the things you love.
